There are many possibilities for trips in the suroundings of České Budějovice.
A five - minute walk upstream along the banks of the Malše will bring you to the edge of town to an open - air swimming area and children´s playground with the sandpit, climbing frame, swings, swimming pool with shower and ping pong table. Further along the river lies Římov with its famous Calvary and more chances to swim in the open air.
Would you like to spend your holiday by cycling or inline skating?
For cycling enthusiasts we ofer cycle hire and there are many cycling and and inline skating routes around the town and its environs, giving access to remarkable places in the Sound Bohemian countryside.
In less than one hour cycling you could reach Hluboká Castle, former residence of the Schwarzenbergs and considered to be one of the most beautiful chateaus in the Czech Republic. It is famous for an exhibiton of statues and paitings by Dutch artists of the twelfth century.
There is also a zoological garden three kilometers from the chateau at the hunting lodge.
We can also arrange for you a canoeing trip along the river Vltava which is an ideal way to see the beautiful scenery there, and a very popular way of spending time here. This trip can be made on your own or with the help of an instructor.
If you would rather go by car you could visit the old town of Český Krumlov with its castle former home of the Rosenbergs. Český Krumlov is twenty kilometers from České Budějovice. Closer to České Budějovice is the village of Holašovice, a fine example of farmer´s baroque architecture. Both of these places are on the UNESCO list of the protected cultural sites.
Not far from České Budějovice is the town of Třeboň which is famous for its hundred fishponds built by Jakub Krčín of Jelčany in the 16th century.
In České Budějovice itself is a museum dedicated the horse - drawn railway which was built in 1827 and ran from České Budějovice to Linz in Austria.
